Description
Franking :FP = Feldpost / Field Post / Soldier's Mail[legend] :Using Michel abbreviations for cover franking: EF=Einzelfrankatur (single franking), MeF=Mehrfachfrankatur (2+ of the same stamp issue, no others), MiF=Mischfrankatur (2+ different stamp issues)Description: Sanke #450, picturing Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen. The detail that makes this feldpost item really worth noticing is the signature on the back -- Freiherr von Richthofen. Perhaps the most sought-after WWI autograph delivered in excellent form -- on the Baron's own Sanke card. The message is in a second hand -- the autograph from Richthofen was then sent back home through the German feldpost system. I am unaware of another such usage. The finest card of its type that I have seen -- but then again, I'm probably partial. A translation follows (thanks to Christine): To Emil Letsche (Mannheim) In the field, 14 April 1917 Many thanks for the kind letter and the congratulations. To fulfill your wish, here is a picture with an autograph. FRH. V. RICHTHOFEN Rittmeister (cavalry captain) and leader of Jagstaffel (fighting squadron) Item #: 14967  Contact: Click Here For More Information On Gothic Stamps and Policies References: Member Better Business Bureau (BBB), American Philatelic Society (APS), American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA), Germany Philatelic Society (GPS), Military Postal History Society (MPHS), American Airmail Society (APS) Payment: USA winners: we accept PayPal, personal checks and money orders (checks and MO only from US banks in US funds), and bank wire transfers for orders over $200. Please allow 7 days for personal checks and money orders to clear. We send our invoice after receiving notification from Ebay that you have won the lot. We charge 6.7% sales tax for all Colorado deliveries. USA Shipping Costs: Unless otherwise noted, shipping (stamps and covers) is a flat rate of $1 in the US, except books and maps which are $4. Items under $100 are sent first class, items over $100 are sent certified. Your $1 covers postage, insurance, and a heavy gauge flat container (not a flimsy envelope) for stamps/covers or a very heavy-gauge tube for maps -- these fees are under our costs! All insurance is through our carrier. We will combine multiple items won on the same day by the same seller as much as possible to save you money! NOTE: Heavier/oversize items (very large books, collections, etc.) may be more; if shipping cost is a concern to you, please email us before you bid to confirm the fee to your location. Foreign Shipping Costs: Outside the USA, items in value under $100 cost $2 to ship via first class airmail. Items above $100 cost $12 for first class registered airmail; books and maps whatever the value are $14 to ship. This fee covers postage, insurance, and a heavy gauge flat container (not a flimsy envelope) for stamps/covers or a very heavy-gauge tube for maps -- these fees are under our costs! All shipments are insured through our carrier. We will combine multiple items won on the same day by the same seller as much as possible to save you money! NOTE: Heavier/oversize items (very large books, collections, etc.) may be more; if shipping cost is a concern to you, please email us before you bid to confirm the fee to your location. Shipping Times: Now that eBay asks bidders to rate sellers' shipping-time, we feel compelled to point out that this judgement is supposed to be based on the time it takes us to ship the item -- not how long it takes to receive it. Please look at the postmark when the package arrives. We generally ship within two days of cleared payment, and often within 24 hours. However, most of our business is in Europe -- and we can do nothing if a foreign customs agency holds a package for a month or if the USPS takes three weeks to get a package out of the country (yes, both of these things have happened more than once). We are professional, full-time dealers in business for many years, and we treat your lots with care and consideration in a timely manner. Also, the shipping fees we charge are less than our actual costs! We're just trying to recover part of the shipping fees and insurance, so please rate us accordingly. International Bidders and Customs: International bidders are responsible for paying whatever customs duties or taxes are due in their country. We are required to put the actual value of the items won on each package. The delays and/or duties caused by this are completely out of our control and sphere of responsibility. Guarantee: All items are absolutely guaranteed genuine as described. Any item returned by a competent authority (BPP,APS,VoB,etc) may be returned within 3 months of receipt and we will immediately refund the cost of the item and our shipping fees, but we will not be responsible for the cost of the expertization itself. We are members of the American Philatelic Society (APS), the American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA), and the German Philatelic Society (GPS), are a Colorado corporation (dba Gothic Stamps, Inc) and have been dealing in philatelic and numismatic items since 1992.
