Description
1902 WASHINGTON 2c used US Postage Stamp "319 a Lake Shade Type I " APS Certified !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please be aware this is NOT a "319a" !!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a " 319a LAKE SHADE TYPE I " Read below for more information if you are not familiar with this stamp! Scott # 319 a Lake Shade Type I 1902 Washington 2 c US Postage Stamp Used Certified by The American Philatelic Society 1988 Please as you read also pick up ANY copy of the Scott Catalogue Look this number up in the book and you will find that it DOES NOT have a price beside this stamp. A LETTER IS ALSO CONTAINED from Mercer Bristow of APS explaining the uniqueness of this stamp. Many have questioned if one even existed. Then to find a used one that the cancellation did not cover the type I area makes it even more special. Check the population reports for PSE and PF neither show they have EVER certified a 319a Lake Shade Type I . If you are looking for a TRUE RARITY ...THIS IS IT ! SERIOUS OFFERS ACCEPTED This design was the result of complaints about the "overly" ornate design of the original two cent stamp of the 1902 Series. Although this stamp is engraved "Series of 1902", it did not appear in circulation until 1903. It could have just as easily been given the Scott Number "301A", but was given its own catalog number "319" then letters follow plus the color variety. Technically, it belongs with the Series of 1902 definitives. Over 20 billion of this stamp were printed and it is quite common, but there are over one hundred distinguishable shades of red and carmine and many plate varieties, making it an interesting stamp for specialists. All of these stamps were printed on double-lined watermarked paper. Scott 319 a - The leaf runs all the way to the left margin. NOTICE the gap in the left frame line. This is, therefore, a TYPE I stamp. Since the color is lake it is a 319 a + Type I = Scott# "319 a LAKE SHADE Type I" Several payment forms are available: Through PAYPAL.
